The fight against our nations number one killer - cardiovascular disease - needs to focus on prevention.  Strategies that detect risk factors for disease and encourage healthier lifestyles are not luxuries - they're lifesavers.

Not being at a healthy weight is a strain on the hearts of Americans.  More than 35% of adults are over weight or obese, and childhood obesity is affecting 32% of kids.  With obesity a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke, this epidemic is a serious public health issue that must be addressed.

Where Should You Start

Improve Nutrition & Physical Education In Schools

Support strong nutrition standards for school meals and competitive foods ( such as vending machines and a la carte lines) sold in schools to include more fruits and vegetables, less sodium and trans fats, more whole grains, and low fat milk.  Actively promote policies in your local schools that require all K-12 students to receive regular physical education instruction.

I think this is a great initiative, as we end up wasting so many things. The planet is suffering because of this. Scarce resources are running out. Its better to recycle and reuse

I heard from a friend of a friend that the best cure for cardiovascular disease is eating berries and dragon fruit. I heard dragon fruits can cure a lot of diseases out there like such as cancer. Berries are already proven to be effective by survivors, name it, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries and I suppose also strawberries. Aside from eating nature's dessert, a healthy diet with vegetables and fish meats is also good. But most importantly, keep hydrated because water keeps us alive longer than food.
